Bella Hadid straalt op de cover van Elle Magazine: “Ik kijk op tegen Cindy Crawford en Naomi Campbell”
Bella Hadid staat op de cover van het mei issue van ELLE USA, samen met vijf andere modellenmaatjes. Bella, Hailey Baldwin, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes en Maria Borges sieren elk een eigen ELLE cover en we komen veel te weten over het modellenleven van deze it-girls. ‘’It's a model takeover on our May issue.’’ Aldus ELLE.
ELLE wilde deze maand zes modellen portretteren om zo te zien hoe het is om zo jong te zijn en zo'n bruisend leven te hebben. ''Their backstories may vary, but these six top models have plenty in common: good genes, professional discipline, and the kind of star power and charisma that jumps through the lens and stop fashion lovers in their tracks.'' Zegt ELLE.
Bella vertelt over haar rolmodellen en de vrouwen die haar keer op keer weer inspireren. ''I was watching an Alaïa show from the '90s, and it's Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista—the way they were radiating was beautiful. They were so confident. Those are the people I look up to."
Hailey Baldwin spreekt over het mindere aan modellenwerk, en legt uit dat het niet altijd zo glamorous is als dat het lijkt. ''People think it's all fun and glamorous, but it's a lot of work, a lack of sleep, and a lot of being by yourself, away from family. Traveling the world alone when you're 18 or 19 is a lot." Het model waarschuwt hiermee jonge meiden die graag de modellenwereld in willen rollen.
Jasmine Tookes is prachtig in een kanten jurk, en vertelt ELLE over haar passie en project waar ze al een tijdje mee bezig is. "My goal has always been to create my own beauty line. I have such a unique skin tone—when I go on set, makeup artists have to use all different mixes of makeup to match my skin. I'd love to do a line that has tones for everybody." Aldus het model.
Elsa Hosk legt uit aan ELLE dat half werk doen niet werkt in de modellenbranche, en dat ze zelf ook vaak genoeg is gestruikeld voordat ze is waar ze nu is. "When I came to New York 20, I didn't know the level of professionalism required. You can't half-ass it, because people will take your place. I screwed up many times and had to prove myself over seven years."
Plus-size model Candice Huffine sprak vooral over het laten horen van je stem. "Women have to come together in a way we haven't before. We're united and not standing for less than we deserve. It's about celebrating who we are and not backing down. It's not a time to be quiet."
Model Maria Borges schittert in een simpele Calvin Klein top en vertelt hoe te gek het is om anderen te mogen inspireren. "The fashion industry is here for everyone, [regardless] of color or race. When I was growing up, I never saw someone like me, and now the other girls can see someone like them. It's all about inspiration."
