Ondanks dat de fashion folks het lastig hadden de afgelopen maand om in hun oh-zo-mooie outfits door de sneeuw en de kou van show naar show te trippelen, werdt het straatbeeld opgevrolijkt door de felle kleuren faux fur hier en daar. Veel van Prada, veel van Givenchy maar zeker ook heel wat Shrimps bontjes.
"The new collection is inspired by my British childhood: cartoons, picking daisies, school uniform and playing with fluffy animals," verteld de 24- jarige designer, Hannah Weiland. "I made a film starring Laura Bailey and Adwoa Aboah to launch the collection. It was directed by my brother Max and best friend Oliver Hadlee Pearch, and we created a Shrimps world; with all things Shrimps- inspired - dogs,gherkins, miniatures, quad-bikes, finger puppets and cartoons. It is pretty surreal and unexpected, which I love. "
Het label- wat Weiland als "fuzzy,fun and very huggable" beschrijft- is een hype bij anti-fur activisten. Ze zijn blij dat een label wat zelfs door editors wordt gedragen echt een succes lijkt te worden en dat het weer fashionable is om diervriendelijk te zijn. De designer verteld "I am an animal lover myself, so it feels great. I feel very lucky and thankful for all the great press. I would never work in real fur, but do not judge other if they choose to wear fur."
