De 23-jarige blogger Lauren Bullen uit Australië reist samen met haar vriend Jack Morris de hele wereld over. Van de Griekse eilanden Zakyntos en Santorini tot aan Marokko en India. Als je de Instagram-accounts van het stel bekijkt, droom je zo weg van de prachtige en jaloersmakende vakantiefoto’s.
Bullen (@gypsea_lust) en Morris (@doyoutravel) hebben samen ongeveer twee miljoen volgers. Je zou zeggen dat de foto’s uniek zijn, maar Lauren heeft een blogger gevonden die exact dezelfde beelden maakt en ze is in shock! Onder de naam @diana_alexa plaatst een brunette foto's op Instagram die wel héél erg op Laurens foto’s lijken. Alles is hetzelfde: de bestemming, de outfits, de positionering, de bewerkingen en vaak ook de bijschriften. Hoe bizar?!
Lauren snapt dat haar foto’s worden gebruikt als inspiratiebron, maar dit gaat wel héél ver.
‘‘I understand seeking inspiration from what I do – and I love that, but this has truly shocked me..
They honestly did an incredible job copying our imagery, controversially insane mimics, so I congratulate them for this! But stealing someone’s art – that’s never okay.’’
Inmiddels heeft Lauren contact opgenomen met haar ‘kopie’. De brunette heeft haar account direct op privé heeft gezet, maar vindt zelf dat ze onschuldig is. ‘‘When I messaged her about discovering her page and how crazy and ridiculous I thought it was she tried to justify it by saying everyone copies us and even big accounts are taking same pictures.’’
Lauren vindt dit toch echt een stap te ver gaan. ‘‘I think she missed the point that no one has copied down to this extreme before and it’s completely different, copying down to the hand positioning, what’s in your hand – everything.. is just soooo next level.’’
